A Night In The Tents

The day we were notified that the last week's itinerary changed, our downfall began. Originally, for the last week in Palma de Mallorca we were supposed to spend a week in Alcudia in a youth hostel. However, that youth hostel soon fell under construction. So the program leaders let us know that for a night we will be "glamping". However, upon arrival, this was no glamping matter. The tents were big, but the mattresses were covered in stains from who knows what, the ground was nearly fully exposed, and worst of all the tents had no zipper to fully close them, so bugs can crawl in. I believe I forgot to mention, that I have a huge, irrational FEAR OF BUGS... so you can only imagine my excitement to be sleeping in such conditions. Before nighttime came, my friends and I enjoyed snorkeling and cliff jumping, but when curfew hit at 11, and we were told that we needed to be in our tents, my fear only became worse. I began to map out a plan, where I would put a towel over the hole that the tent had, and it would still let the breeze in but keep the bugs out. However, my roommates were very persistent in not keeping the towel there, so it was taken off. At this point, I fell into a state of panic, and had to devise a plan that would keep me save from the bugs. I put on sweatpants, a sweatshirt, covered myself in a blanket, and worst of all, I placed a towel on my face so the mosquitos and spiders couldn't crawl on it. I did not sleep, and I was welcomed with blazing heat. With the little sleep I had, it was eventually 7, and I found myself with a spider bite, and my friend full of mosquito bites. HAHAHA I TOLD YOU SO... However, although this was the worst night out of the entire program, I would not have changed this experience if I could, because I enjoyed being with my friends, and now know that I never want to go camping again in the woods. Everything looked up after that, and we had the beautiful view of the beach and five minute walk to the beach that you can see in the pictures. We left to go to Menorca where I met one of my closest friends now, and became closer with a lot of people as well, next to all the fun adventures and ferry rides that I got to experience.
