Hello everyone! My name is Jenna Li and I will be going to Nanjing this summer through the language and culture program with Ciee. This summer, I am especially looking forward to the historical sites of Nanjing. Nanjing is the capital of Six Dynasties of China as well as the Republic of China. It was also known for the events taken there in WWII ( Nanjing Massacre). Through this trip, I hope to better understand the history and culture of Nanjing through sightseeing such as Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum and Nanjing’s city walls. I am also looking forward to the food there. My aunt as especially told me to try the salted duck there. Through the course of this program, I also wish to improve my Chinese language skills. Even though I can have casual conversations with people in Chinese, I still lack skills to fully read a Chinese newspaper or to understand everything in a Chinese entertainment show. I hope this program can help me to improve my Chinese speaking and writing skills so I can better communicate with my parents and neighbors.
